          REQUIREMENTS FOR U.S. CITIZENS TO OBTAIN A
                       BAHRAIN TOURIST VISA

 

Passport
 
Please send WPVS your current valid and signed passport. US passport must be signed and valid 6 months beyond intended stay and must have at least one blank visa page.
 
Photo
 
Please send 1 recent professional passport-type photograph.
Digital and non-passport photographs are not acceptable.
 
 
Proof of Departure
 
Please send a copy of your round trip airline tickets, or itinerary or e-ticket, or letter of confirmation from a travel agent. The itinerary must show the applicant's name, date of arrival and departure from the country, and flight information. The Embassy does not recommend purchasing your ticket prior to a visa being issued.
 
 
Minors
 
Applications for minors must be accompanied by a notarized letter of travel consent from BOTH parents and a photocopy of BOTH parents passports.
 
 
Electronic Visa
 
An Electronic Visa is available for U.S. travelers arriving in Bahrain for a stay up to two weeks. For further information see Bahrain E-Visa.

Letter from applicant addressed to: "Visa Section, Embassy of Bahrain, Washington D.C." explaining purpose of travel to Bahrain, brief itinerary, and the applicant's responsibility for all travel expenses.

A passport and a visa are required. Passports should be valid for at least six months after date of arrival. U.S. passport holders outside of Bahrain may apply and pay for a two-week tourist visa online through the Bahraini government web site at

Business Letter

 

A business letter of responsibility  is required, to be typewritten on your company letterhead and addressed to:
Embassy of Bahrain, Visa Section, Washington DC
The letter must explain all of the following:
Nature of business to be performed
Name and address of reference to be visited
This letter should request Multiple Entries visa if required
Guarantee of return transportation and sufficient funds for the visit
The letter should be signed by an officer of the company other than the applicant.

Additional Helpful Information

 

The Bahrain visa is usually valid for five years from date of issue for multiple entries into Bahrain, for a period of stay not to exceed 4 weeks each entry. The processing period for some nationalities may be from 6-9 weeks.

Register with U.S. Embassy

 

Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP)

By connecting on the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program, State Department will be able to assist you better in the case of an emergency, such as if you lose your passport or it is stolen while you are abroad.

http://www.evisa.gov.bh, or may obtain it upon arrival at the airport. U.S. diplomatic passport holders receive a no-fee two-week visa. Prior to travel, visitors may obtain five-year multiple-entry visas valid for stays as long as one month from Bahraini embassies overseas. Bahrain assesses heavy fines on visitors who fail to depart Bahrain at the end of their authorized stay. The amount of the fine is determined by a formula related to the visa type, duration, and location of issuance. An exit tax is included in the ticket price for flights out of Bahrain, and no additional exit fees are required upon departure.
